Yesterday, UBC Hockey Alumni, Richard Noonan was on the Team 1040 Radio talking about all things ’72 Summit Series.  At that time Ricky was the trainer of Team Soviet Union.

Throughout his storied career, Ricky held many titles:

UBC Men’s Athletic Director; Manager of the UBC Thunderbird Winter Sports Centre; UBC Men’s Hockey trainer;Team Canada in the 1980 Olympics

Ricky was also involved with the Canadian National team beginning in 1967.

Last spring, Ricky was inducted into the UBC Sports Hall of Fame in the ‘Builder’ category.

Every November, UBC Hockey, it’s alumni, and the UBC Athletic Department celebrates Ricky Noonan Night during a UBC Hockey home game.  This year the Noonar takes place on Saturday, November 17th as the T-Birds take on the Manitoba Bisons.
